“Why didn’t you mention this before?!?”
Well to be perfectly honest, we just found out about it ourselves. Maybe this would’ve been cool to know about beforehand, but oh well right? But that’s why we’re here, so that you can find out about all of this cool stuff earlier. Continue reading "YouTube EDU" »

“If you go to a 4 year school with good sporting events to attend, even if you don’t really care much about it, make sure you go to every one you can (I’m talking about football, basketball and occasionally baseball, not necessarily all the tennis matches and track & field events, unless of course you are just really genuinely interested, God bless your soul). If you aren’t a die hard fan, make sure you read up at least a little bit about the local team so that you know at least what happened in the games, or any other big news that happens on campus. By doing this you show school spirit and will automatically have something in common with about 90% of the people on campus. Remember that things in common = great conversation starters which = more friends which = not sitting at home on friday nights alone watching south park reruns.
Oh and by the way, the opposite applies for people attending community college. The less school spirit… the better. Period.”

The checklist.
So Bed Bath & Beyond recently featured this awesome checklist in their stores to help college-bound guys and gals find the very best stuff to make college life (especially dorm life) a lot easier. I’ve scanned the list, and you can download it here. Continue reading "Bed Bath & Beyond Awesome…" »
Let me start by saying this movie isn’t what you expect.
I expected an enjoyable kids film that may have one or two parts that were actually funny and that actually made me laugh audibly. I was super wrong. It has lots of funny parts.
This movie has a killer cast and that shows through the personalities of the characters. George Clooney is the perfect choice for Mr. Fox, and there are several other very recognizable voices sprinkled across a multitude of characters. Continue reading "Box Office Blitz: Fantastic Mr. Fox" »
So most of us were skeptical. We heard Toy Story 3 and thought, “WTF man, they’re gonna ruin it! Just go ahead and trample over my childhood memories, Disney.” Well, I decided to go see it anyway, just in case it was good.
Fortunately, it wasn’t just good; it was AWESOME. One of the funniest animated movies I’ve seen since the first Shrek, which I also loved. The plot was fantastic, and having the original voices back was definitely noticeable. I really laughed aloud several times and thoroughly enjoyed myself. A few years ago in San Diego county, lawmakers decided to ban alcoholic beverages on all beaches. That’s right no alcohol, not even in a solo cup. However, there were a few young bright individuals who read the new law and discovered that it said nothing about drinking while in the water. Continue reading "Spring Break 2010 “Floatopia”" »

Why pay for a textbook that you may not be able to sell back?
That’s the question that lots of college students have faced over the years. But now a new company has found a solution: rent your books. Continue reading "Renting Textbooks" »

Where does one even begin to talk about campus parking? I mean universities have to make a ridiculous amount of money each year off of parking tickets. The universities think they are so clever with their convenient 45 minute meter parking when they know damn well all classes are 50 minutes long. Also with the number of students rising each year are the number of parking spots increasing too? NO, they are not. The university gets more money from the increasing number of students and more money from the increasing number of parking tickets…looks like a win-win for them and a lose-lose for the students.
So what can you do? Continue reading "Campus Parking is Wack!" »

Within any college environment students demonstrate various study habits. Many students approach their studies in a very methodical, organized manner in an attempt to make their studying as beneficial as possible. They have a mind set that allows them to begin work on an assignment in advance. However, a surprising number of students procrastinate studying, and as a result, minimize the amount of their available study time. Preparation, responsibility, and stress are all factors which may affect a student’s study habits and determine whether a student is a procrastinator. Yes I’m aware this is like the 4th movie review in a row. We’ll work on that.
So I’m here to talk to you today about two great animated movies that I saw recently. They’ve been out of theaters for awhile but I missed both of their theater runs and have been meaning to check them out. If you’re like me, you love a funny animated movie (Toy Story is the bee’s knees).
First off is the movie UP. Continue reading "Box Office Blitz: Animation Edition" »

So it’s not too late to decide on your approach for the new year.
There’s a pretty good blog article I just read that could be helpful for anyone that wants to set some goals and stick to them and is using New Years as a good excuse to have some motivation.
In college, it’s good to have more than just a goal of graduating. You’ve got to have goals to have a good time, to really enjoy your time here. College is a sanctuary of fun that exists in a crazy place between high school and real life.
At times you have to approach your college career like it is real life so that you can be prepared to face real life once you graduate. But don’t take it TOO seriously, because then your goals become chores.
But read this article, this guy has a much classier way of articulating what I’m trying to say.
HAVE FUN THIS YEAR.

OK, we’ve got an alien planet with big blue people, mind-controlled clones, and lots of political undertones. Oh, and of course it’s all 3-D.
Now I am personally a big fan of nerdy sci-fi alien stuff. So of course I was interested. More normal people my age were a bit confused about the whole premise of the movie (the blue aliens really throw some people for a loop apparently). Continue reading "Box Office Blitz: Avatar" »

So this review may be a bit biased. I loved reading Sherlock Holmes growing up, so I was super excited when I heard they were making a movie (and that Iron Man was in it). But I’ll try to be objective. Continue reading "Box Office Blitz: Sherlock Holmes" »

So maybe you’re feeling a bit lazy and just want to start drinking without setting up a complicated game and explaining rules.
Try this:
1. Get a quarter and find a flat surface like a coffee table or a desk.
2. Half the people call heads and the other half gets tails (don’t recall after every turn, just stick with one or the other for a little while).
3. Have people take turns spinning the quarter. Just hold the quarter standing up, balanced with one finger on the top. Flick the quarter from underneath your finger
and watch it spin.
4. If it lands on tails, the people who got stuck with that have to drink. If it lands on heads, people who called heads have to drink. Have fun.
The End.
